A couple months ago, I would've never dreamed I would be starting this little business. I have been a nurse and educator for almost 20 years. I am a nursing assistant program director for a local college, and I manage busy property rentals for a small family business in Seattle. I have a life with the usual family, drama, fun, difficult things. We have lives that are busy with fun things and stressful things.
I wear a lot of hats, and I have a lot of responsibilities. Running the business was a painful process for me because it was so tedious with data entry and it is not what I wanted to do. I am not a computer person at all, and while I had good ideas, I couldn't express them very well on paper, and none of my documents matched the look and vision I had for them.
One day I wrote on a piece of paper, "Have AI run the business." I needed a better way, and I always felt like everything I did was just halfway and could be a lot better. I remembered a friend told me that AI could build me an app to run it for me. The thought stuck with me for a while, and suddenly something clicked a couple months later. I decided that I needed to learn AI and just committed to it. I spent the next weeks learning and developing tools to run my business and to help me in my daily life. What started as a personal dashboard titled "Hello, Gorgeous" turned into something that would change my life.
I have since developed a portfolio of projects that I am using in my daily life to give me back hours that would have been spent on administrative tasks. It's still a work in progress, but I've done great things with tracking payments and deposits, billing my electrical meters for tenants, creating real estate listings, and making financial documents that look really good!
I have a daily personal dashboard that helps me keep track of my goals for scheduling, fitness, language learning, and meditation. I've started using AI to help me in almost every part of my life where I have friction. My kids think I'm crazy, but I think I'm onto something. I feel like I have wings now, and I'm creating cool stuff that's tailored just for me and my multiple roles.
Learning how to use any AI tool is learning another language. You'll need guidance and practice to get good at it. We'll practice with the tools and learn how to prompt your assistant and create personalized apps for you to keep developing after you leave. As you work with the tools, you'll be able to ask questions, and in a small group you'll pick it up quickly. It's a steep learning curve and takes time — but it starts coming together once you learn the tricks.
This is going to be good.
Xoxo, Lisa
